Hi guys! For those that have the 3-inch calmini suspension setup, could you share to me pictures of how you trimmed/grinded up your rear lower shock mount to prevent contact with the shocks during articulation?  I haven't ground/trimmed mine yet because I didn't know exactly where to do it.

I haven’t got any pics.
But I had to grind the top outside of each bracket.
And I left the old shock bolted to the bottom bracket and bent the bracket out with a hammer(in the middle and bottom of the bracket each side).
The outside top of the bracket I ground 3/4 the way down leaving 1/2mm behind.

But I am going to start from scratch and make up new brackets that I will post in a few weeks.



Just took this pics to show where I bent out the bracket, I could not get a pic of the other side of the bracket without taking the shock off.

And it gets worse if you rotate the
rear axle up to help with driveline angles

  You kick guys need to cut and weld on some new shock mounts like Trail Tough offers.  That way can adjust your rear pinion angle and improve the operating range of your shocks with out interference.

Here is a mod I used for my rear shocks. You dont have any lower mount binding when flexing.

I took the stock mount...



Trimmed the welds off with a Ziz wheel and flipped them upside down.

Remove right flip and weld it up on the left.

Remove left flip and weld it up on the right.

With my 6" Lift and rotated axle grinding and modifying the original design was not an option.

Much better rock clerance too

Bill, Cool Idea, letting the shocks pivot the other
way from stock, and reducing the binding under
max flex, does this cause any binding when the
axle is compressed up and not twisting flexy style ?

   I agree they might could go more but, flipping the mounts raised mine about 2" and now the lowers are hidden behind that steel mounting box.  It does ok as a skid for mild stuff.  I have twist many things under the Kick but not yet a shock.
