My first post! I have read this forum for a while now. Just wanted to provide input on my new GV. I have owned Suzuki motorcylcle for years. I have a 2001,1500 Intruder cruiser now. They have always provided an excellent product known for duribility. For the last 20 years I have driven a pickup for the second vehicle. When it came time to trade I decided to try the GV. If I need a truck for something I'll borrow one of the kids or neighbors. I'll provide my observations and findings just so it might benifit someone else in the future. The fit and finsh of the GV is excellent. The ride is very good considering the wheelbase and size of the vehicle.
Interior room is adequate except for rear leg room-could be another inch or two!! Lots of storage space and cubby holes. My MPG the first month is 23.6. I drive on highway mostly at 60 -75 MPH. Engine power is good (I have a 5 speed manual). Best power develops at approx 4-5000 rpm. This GV handles well (some what subject to buffiting in windy situations). Very little wind or road noise and no squeeks, groans or rattles.
The front drivers area is spacious for me. I'm 6'1" and 225 pounds. All the controls are very handy once you get used to them all. I have add on sat radio and I am a ham radio operator too. I found zilch-zero ignition noise or interference in any of my recievers. The electrical system is filtered as well as any I've seen over the years. The only problems so far are the auto drivers window switch does not work in auto (which is fine with me), the outside mirrors have a stain or something in them that won't remove and the ignition switch is tricky to insert the key in. I hope to achieve 25 mpg in the future and would like to make the little v-6 pump better too. Any one have suggestions on air intake and exaust?? It would be appreciated very much. By the way the breakend period for my GV has taken place in steady temperatures of 100-115 degrees. It has been very hot in the PHX area the last month. The engine always runs cool with no leaks or temperature issues.
Though small in stature the GV is quite appealing, mine is red with silver lower. This appears to be quite a well built unit with a rugged suspension and drive train! I think the company should do quite well with this model in the future... Price was quite appealing too, I paid $14,400 for mine, plus tax-Lic etc. So if anyone reads this and would like to consider my recommendation on the GV. I would rate it a solid 8 out of 10. Well thats my 2 cents worth... any info on making the engine breath better is appreciated.
