« on: July 27, 2005, 12:24:48 PM »
hi all!

i,m planning to do that think....
i know that many sidekick owners have done that and i was wondering if anybody has done that to a GV.

just want to be sure when i try it  :) :)

any problems doing after that mod?

something special to check??
the car is +4cm higher than stock, with stock shocks front and rear :'(

thanks :)

First prob the the strut is mounted 1.5" from  the bottom of the tower mount flipping it over adds 1.5" so ur now gonna push ur strut down 3" which is good for a 3" lift but its too far down and also ur gonna have crazy Positve camber trust me i tried it also doing this binds ur strut up when u use a camber bolt it puts allot of stress on the strut.

so u think that i have to leave it as it is now?

i,m just curious about that and i ,m gonna check it just to see whats going on with flipped struts.

so now  i,m +4cm higher than stock which means (as i understood) that i have to make spring spacers and "cover"  the 3'' of the strut, right?
if i flipped them i ll miss about 1,5'' from the spring.  hhmmm

are u sure about camber??  is there any correction can be made?

No the problem is on the GV and vitras the strut mounts are not 1.5" high they are like 3" high there alot bigger then the sidekick so when u flip it ur gonna get about 3.25 more travel in ur shock which doing that sounds good but number one u come on a big hole and the suspension come down guess what ur gonna let ur axle hang to low and u may pop it or snap it..

Its hard to explain but mounting the strut lower moves it out right which forces the camber out too. Now correcting that ur gonna push the strut in alot but by doing so ur putting stres on the upper bushing which bends the strut in a sence.

Here is a pic
