Hey  i was wondering about the front 3 member in my Tracker.  Would it be possable to put a rear steel 3  member in the front with a locker.   J/W   lata   Stu

you can fit a samurai rear carrier with the vitara internals swapped into it
but then you need to do a mod to mount it to the front crossmember
cast steel to mild steel ( if you weld a lug to the side ) is a difficult weld to get really strong ... needs to be done by a very competent welder with the correct rods.

( i have seen one done tho .. whether it was ever fitted is another question ) :-/

You can install a machined Sami Carrier into a Kick ,GV or XL-7 casing, use your same R&P and install a sami locker of your choice. The only extra part you will need is a carrier pin retaining sleeve. Hawk Suzuki Parts has everything you need to achieve this. Hutch's drive line improvement article touches on this subject.

Are the front cases in the GV and XL-7 both steel?

They are steel in the manuals not autos until this year, now both are steel.
