WENT HUNTING TODAY

Went hunting today and with my son and we knew were to look for the gritter, but they sure are hard to get pulled out of there hole.

HIDING PLACE!!!!



It took most of the day but we were finally able to pull one out of there hole and get it hung up. We took it out and cleaned it and hopefully it will work for the Sami.
Here is me and my son with our trophy 1.6 Motor!!!


On a serious note; we took the pan off and the oil was a brown color more like it had water in it. Is this a common problem with the 1.6 motors??? Looks like a head gasket gone bad!!!!!!

know it is not a typical problem no more than any other motor. but depending on how long and how it was sitting it may have gotten water in it from rain or some other water sorce or it may just be the age of the oil.

was that an automatic?  If so, did you disconnect the Torque Coverter from the flexplate and were the bolt heads on the back face (towards the block) of the flexplate?

The GM Shop Manual is a bit vague on the subject of pulling an engine off an Automatic and this is my first attempt...

The bolt heads are on the engine side, there is a cover you take off and then you take them off from the drivers side. The size was 14mm on ours. Use a 1/2 wrench with a 3/8 reducer to be able to get the socket in there but the 1/2 rachet for leverage. We also had to hold the crank by taking off the fan and holding the bolt. Not sure if this is the right way but it worked for us, plus you can turn the motor that way and this is my first time of doing it, just dig in and see what happens.

I'm not using a manual, I have an idea of what needs to come off so I just look. By the way there are 3 bolts on the clutch so that is all you have to look for. GOOD LUCK!!!
