I have an 1990 Sidekick 3 door hardtop 1.6ci, 8 valve which refuses to idle to the proper 900 or so RPM. It maintains an average of 1500 to 1700 RPM right after starting and engine been cold or wnormal temp makes no diference, Vehicle otherwise works perfectly. Have checked for vacumm leaks, basic TBI adjustments but no matter what the idle remains high. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That's about normal, unless
you work on the high/cold
idle bypass, which is a stupid
wax pellet type.

It doesn't slow down after idling for a bit?

check the throttle cable tension at the throttle body. Mine some how got tight and I had the same problem.

I would like to kkow how to fix this too. i know of a couple rigs with this problem.

Plug the idle bypass and adjust the idle with the screw,
Idles slow when cold, but there isn't much else to do

im having this same problem, can you go a bit more indepth about it and how to fix it please, thank you!

The spot to fix, or plug is in the fast idle cover.

My trucklet idles down after a bit,
so I don't worry about it
