Engine Died
« on: March 25, 2005, 02:46:29 PM »
Had the 1.6 16v in for a while. Was driving the other day and the engine quit and then picked up immediately. Thought a little about it but it ran fine for a few days and then it did it again, this time it sputtered a bit more then picked up and got home fine. Went to start the next day and it started and then quit and now it won't start at all.

What could it be?

Checked the pump, replaced the filter and so on, we're getting fuel but still nothing. When it fires it sounds pretty rough but won't run.

Getting some spark but I'm not sure of the time lapse between an individual plug firing when turning over.

Forgot I had this post but I figured out the problem. It seems that the crank angle sensor on the 16v went. The kicking out and then starting up again I guess were just the initial symptoms of the problem before it went completely.
