What year Tracker are we discussing?
The idea of the stubby is that the right side CV axle can be removed same as the left side - I don't have the stubby mod, but I have removed the left CV axle without disassembling the suspension and/or steering.
1) Jack the car up, block it so it can't roll.
2) Remove the hub, remove the circlip, remove the washer
3) If you remove the wheel, place it under the vehicle, preferably under the chassis rail (for safety, presumably you don't have an axle stand out on the trail)
4) Turn the steering to full lock
5) Unbolt the inner end of the CV axle from the flange, slip it forward and then slide the axle out.
Reassembly is the reverse.
I believe this can be done without removing the wheel, but I've never tried it, I suspect it requires the suspension to be at full droop, but because I've only done it with the wheel off, I can't say that it must be at full droop. Having it at full droop give you a little more room to wiggle the flange end of the axle out.
Now - remember - what I'm describing is removing the left CV axle, removing the right one should be similar, but how similar is going to depend on a number of variables - like how short/long you made your stubby axle, or how much additional clearance your Calmini/Alter Ego kit allows - the control arms are supposedly longer and move the ball joint forward, some folks claim it can be done with out having those control arms, but I haven't done it.
