Hello everyone. New to ZukiWorld.
Got my first Samurai a year ago to use as a side by side ATV, woods / hunting buggy and I love it but have some questions. Mine is so stiff it rides like a buckboard which is fine for crawling through the woods but I would like it to have a better road ride.
Looks to me like the previous owner took it to a spring shop and added heavier springs to give it about a 3 inch lift.
I broke a rear front shackle off the frame it's so stiff.
I picked up a pair of Jeep CJ springs at a local junk yard and plan to do a cj/ruf conversion. I see yj conversions also but the cj conversion looks much easier and matches my fabrication kills better.

How many leafs are in the stock leaf packs? Front and back?
What should it ride like? I'm told they don't ride that bad. I realize the short wheel base isn't going to ride like my Camry.
Where can i buy cj spring bushings? I find lots of samurai stock and yj bushings on vender sites. Rock Auto?
Do you think the cj conversion is what I'm looking for?

I don't want to change the ride height much and don't need missing links.
Because I broke the stock shackle I plan to fabricate new mounting points and shackles.

Have about a 30in tire. 255/70r/15 i think.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appropriated.

Thanks,
Kevin

Are you airing down your tires when you go offroad?  That alone dramatically improves the ride.

The number of leaves in each Samurai pack varied by the year.  If you broke off a shackle mount from the frame, there are likely other issues going as well.
35 years of Samurai ownership, and I still have my very first one. :)

Just looking around and stumbled onto this post. Nice ride. I'm a newbie too.
