Hi, I am new to the samurai world. I bought 3 days ago samurai 1990 injection1.3L engine. I changed the spark plug, park plug wires, air filter when i got the truck because the engine was struggeling.

Yerterdays the check engine went On for water temperature sensor, so today checked everything and changed the WTS for a new one. Started the truck no problem, went on the road and it was the same thing. When a press on the gas pedal the engine seems to lack of something no power at all, in all gear. I am able to get to speed but it's long and the power goes on and off.

Anybody having an idea ?

First off, are you sure that you changed the correct sensor? Check the wiring for shorts or open circuits by measuring the sensor resistance from the ECU en of the harness. The engine will run badly with a CTS fault as it will run using a default setting that will be rich.

Yes, I did changed the right sensor ( the one just under the thermostat ) and I notice that i could see the metal inside one of the wire. I will check tomorow for the shorts or open circuits ... could it be the fuel filter being full of crap ?

I also have a 1990 that is doing the same thing, I changed out the sensor, then the fuel pump and filter, next I'm pulling the ECM out and checking for leaking capacitors, my ecm is throwing a code 12 which is good but still lacking fuel, I did find a small bolt on the banjo bolt on the back side of the fuel filter while changing it so I guess that is where you check the fuel pressure but I would have to make something to fit it not knowing if it is a pipe thread or a straight fine thread? what a pain this is getting to be! I did not pull the bolt out of the banjo bolt when I had the tank out and now looking back I should have, oh well.
