Conversion - H27A differences?

Hi all,

I've got a 99 Grand Vitara which has spun a big end on the H25A motor. Looking to replace it with a H27A.

Does anyone know what the differences are between the H27A that was in the earlier XL7s, and the H27A that was fitted to the 2005 - 2008 JB Grand Vitaras?

Would be wanting to use the standard H25A electrics/injection setup on it which I know is possible with the XL7 motors, just wanting to know if this would work with the later H27As also?

Being the same family of motor I presume it will bolt in to the car with no issues. Anyone know if the intake/exhaust manifolds etc are all the same?

The exhaust manifold/pre-cat is larger on the 2005 2.7l.  I am running a smaller manifold/pre-cat from 2003 for my applications.
93 Tracker,XL7 springs & 1" raised spring pads in front with YJ springs in back, home built bumpers rear & front (w/winch), 2" x 4" rock tubes,  ARB front & rear, converted Sami rear to IFS, 33x12.5x15  aluminum rims, roll cage, 2.7L w/5 speed auto.

Thanks for the reply mate. I see the exhaust manifold gasket is the same from the first H25A all the way up to the H27A in the 2007 Grand Vitaras, so I presume the extractors I have for the H25A will bolt right on without issue.

Answering my own question here, but in case it helps someone else...

Biggest difference is the later model H27As as found in the JB vitaras no longer run the CAS off the camshaft, nor is there any provision to run one on them (head casting has changed). Hence not really suitable for a plug n play conversion on the earlier GVs.

Can't help you with anything specific, but would like to caution you after owning my GV for over 12 years...nothing is straightforward with Suzukis.  There are many different parts variations, even within the same general model.  I've dreamed of this conversion myself, but after many headaches related to just the drivetrain variations in these trucks, I'm scared to even consider an engine swap.  If you're a pretty darned good mechanic, and you have plenty of time to dedicate to it, and know where to get used parts really cheap, give it a shot.  Otherwise, I would recommend steering clear.... just my two cents  ;)
