sidekick racing
« on: June 14, 2012, 09:58:16 AM »
so ive been in talks with the owners of the dealership I work at and we are thinking of finding a cheap 2door sidekick to build into a desert race rig similar to the pictures ill attach but to better convince them I need to find some videos of the guys that have done this already.

I have searched youtube and have found some zukiworld challenge stuff in prairie city but wondered if any of you have some and possibly of the outside of the rig?

Thats my rig.  Are you looking for racing footage or a walkaround of the vehicle?

I LOVE IT! Its an awesome rig! do you have any race footage you can share with me that I can show my bosses to help with their decision to sponsor a 2dr sidekick build?

Documentary on the USA 500:
2011 VORRA USA 500

While it's not the rig above, I have some video on-line.  I have around 4 hours of video archived, but I need some new editing software to edit it with.

You should look over the build thread for the ZWO Rig:

There is also my build, Project Trouble:

thank you for the help drone. ive got LOTS of research still to do with what races we want to do and what will be required for the vehicle.  Will the stock or calmini ifs withstand all the beating that dirt racing will give?

Thank you.
I dont think I do have any outside racing footage.  There is lots of in-car but most of the racing happens out where no one can see it. You and your boss should come down to the 500 race next month a volunteer to chase for one of the teams.  This is the best way to get someone interested.

Both the stock and the Calmini stuff seem to hold up pretty well but desert racing puts more stress on your car in 500 miles than all the four wheeling you do in 5 years. You will be suprised at the things you can break. The struts are a weak spot.  The stock struts do not hold up.

I think the rear end is more of an issue.  You also have to decide if your going to try and stay with 4x4 or switch to 2wd.
