Good vs cheap rear sami wheel bearings?

Just wondering where you source your rear bearings/retainers from? Local parts house is $50 each bearing only. Major Sami venders are like $40 and some others are like $12-20.
Opinions on if I should stick to a particular brand... or a price range?
Also can someone explain how the larger hole "backing plates" benefit things ? TIA

well you probably don't want a 12.00 Dollar bearing, those plates are in the pic are allot easier to carry a spare axle around than having a backing plate hooked to it and you do not have to mess with the brake lines and bleed them.

Just make my own backing plates by cutting up a spare set of drum brakes.

"Cheap" bearings will cost you far more in the end. I'm on my third set and one of them is going bad!
I'd stick with a well known brand (Timkin or National). Some of the Japanese bearings are OK but you never know. Don't cheap out on the seals either. A significant leak will eventually contaminate the brake shoes/pads (if you don't catch it soon enough).
