Not to throw a wrench in any ones theory.
Start the rig (cold ) so it starts squealing.. Open the hood so you can determinen what is making the noise..IE: bad belt , bad bearing in water pump, bad bearing in alternator, bad pulley alignment....etc.
Over tightening a belt can and will add to much load to the alternator front bearing. This causes premature bearing failier in lots of alternators...We see it in the shop all the time....
Also never ever paint the belt track in pulley.
The noise in question is caused by a load somewhere in pulley belt system...Locate that and you will have solved your problem..
