I have a stock 1988 Samurai (4x4 5spd) with minimal rust, no back seat, a worn out drivers seat, good drive train, rebuilt engine, bad wiring harness, everything is stock, good tires, and bad top...

I have $1000 to put into it.  What do you suggest?  Where can I get the best bang for my buck?

Things I would like:

Drivers seat
Good Top
Removable/Folding Back Seat
Good Wiring Harness

Ideal things:
Bumper upgrades
SPOA
2 piece Hard Top
Front Roll Bar upgrade
Weber Carb

That's about all I can think of...I just want a high MPG go anywhere and do anything daily driver.

The Samurai is my favorite car ever, and I'll argue that it is possibly the most useful and versatile vehicle that has ever been made.  Bold words...lol

This is my first post, so...Hello Everyone!  Thank you for your help!

For a daily diver exploring rig I would recommend going with a OME 2.5" lift and some 30" tires, and a 4.8:1 transfer case kit if you can afford it.

With the limited budget though, you might be better off with some aggressive 235/75 R15 tires, a bumper and winch, and some rocker protection.  Then you can pull yourself through anything you can't drive over.  :D  These things can go just about anywhere stock.

with a $1000 budget. Start with the wiring harness. If you need one I have an 86 harness in good shape you pay the freight and $25 and you can have it.  Then go on to the front bumper and winch.... If you have fab skills a bumper is a no brainer...Add a harbor freight winch and some Home despot 99cent black paint ....That should leave you about $500 bucks to either buy a good set of used tires or a new top at $175 (Eslay) and some descent wrecking yard seats ( minni van captains chairs work well)
You may haveenoughh left over for a tank of gas if you play your cards right....Boxcar...
God Bless
