Wheel check please want to air down
« on: December 17, 2011, 06:42:30 AM »
Should I buy these? Will they fit my 96 tracker? Planning on going to 235's on my 96 tracker with stock wheels, but plan on airing down quite a bit for desert trails. Question is, do I need to worry about airing down with 235's on stock rims? Or should I pick up some wider rims like these? Or is it the tire construction /profile more then the rim size re: bead pop at low air?

I've had 235's on my bone stock 93 kick and go out in the desert, up sand washes and over rocks and have never aired down... A lot of times i cruise for hours before even putting it in 4/hi and lock my hubs... a lot of times I'll go to 4/lo without locking the hubs just because I need  the power.. I usually run out of whoopie before I run out of traction..I carry about 23lbs all around and have never aired down... But there was that one time when a thorn bush aired down for me.....

I have aired down to 12 pounds with 235/75 R15 tires on stock rims and have not had an issue.  My brother was running around at the last Fall Adventure with 14 pounds and had nothing bad happen.
