if i had straight alxe shafts would it be better? could the pivotal shafts be the reason i get bad caster and the reason why i get speed wobbles (the deathshake) around 20-30 mph

The part that needs welded is the spring perch.(flat top "bracket" that in on the axle housing tube)(the leaf spring sits on them). They need to both be at the same angle and welded to the tube. This is very important stuff for safety's sake. If it's out of your comfort zone seek help.

just my two cents, The only front end that should Be Pivotal should be on an early Bronco with a High end coil suspension, But even that puts all of the pressure of braking and acceleration on one arm. They have also cut the tubes in half and welded a slotted flange on the front ends But those are not cheap and only needed on a coil system.

the axle i took apart was the doner. yes the perch needs to be rewelded but i though everyone was talking about the axle shafts and why were they pivotal.

OK that makes more sense than having a wristed front end on a Sammie.
