Weber jets?
« on: July 09, 2011, 09:29:50 PM »
What jets are you guys running in your weber carbs? Mine came on mine when i bought it. I've adjusted it to the best of my ability and it just runs fat. I need to pull the jets and see whats in there. I was just wondering what jet works best for the sami.
when in doubt, throttle out

There is another thread with jet info that I posted, unfortunately I don't remember
what the sizes were, but the info is posted here on ZW, so a search should get info

Skinny,  I'm not sure what thread Wild is talking about but he gave me some real good insight on a problem I was having with my '88 Samurai that turned out to be jets.  I'm not sure what 'fat' means but mine had zero power and the mixture meter on mine was showing it was running real lean, (and had NO power with full throttle).

When I cracked the carb open (Weber DGAV) I found that the previous owner had a 130 in the primary and a 100 in the secondary.  I grabbed a 140 from a VW shop in Denver, slipped that into the primary and moved the 130 over to the secondary and it was the difference of night and day.  Helped a ton!  I'm not a carb expert so I'll be playing with it a little more because I am still running lean when the secondary is opened up.

I believe where you live makes a difference.  Altitude makes a difference in how you should jet your carb.  I live at about 8000 feet in the Colorado rockies and play most of the time between 8,000 and 12,000 and I think my primary 140, secondary 130 is close but I will be rolling them to primary 130, secondary 140 to see how that goes.

Look at the thread "My Samurai is Bogging down" or something like that to see what Wild suggested and how my progress has been to this point.

Yeah I went to school in Laramie. I know how elavation changes the way a vehicle runs. But here at sea level...were spoiled  Hopefully I'll have it going this week so I can address this issue. Mine runs rich(fat)
when in doubt, throttle out

H George, the jet sizes I posted was in response to your other post

Seems like it was 140 primary and 160 or 180 secondary, and fat
means running rich, or on the rich side of stotich
