altered ego motorsports reputation
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:20:39 AM »
I've been into samurais for years but I am thinking about doing a 4 door sidekick.  I've got 2 kids now and it just seems like it would make more sense.

I was checking out the altered ego kits and they seem pretty nice.  Does anyone have any experience with the compnay or the products?  Just looking for some recomendations or say away type info.

Are they good kits, good support from the company, everything as advertised?

I'm aware of calmini, old man emu lifts and the trail tough SAS.  Any others out there I am missing?

What I want is a rig that drive good on the street, is reliable and can do okay off road.  I don't think I will be doing any crazy stuff with this rig since I will have my 2 kids with me.

Thanks,
Billy

The list of stuff I have ordered from them is growing longer and longer (front and rear bumpers, rear links, diff drop brackets, drive shaft spacer, skid plates). Very happy with the service and the parts I bought from them.

Ive been adding spacer lifts, 4 door springs and other things to my 2-door and to be honest I wish I just bought their 4.5" kit and called it a day.

I'm running their 4.5" kit on my '98 4 door...minus the fancy rear end...just the coils and a 4" diff drop bracket that also tilts the rear third up a bit, the stock rear links creak like crazy when flexing. Turning radius is not so great any more cus of the 1.25" increase in wheel base on the front, my bump stops are turned out as far as they can go and I have nuts welded on the ends also, it hasn't been a problem on the trails but parking lots and U-turns usually take a few tries. I can live with it. Build quality and service are top notch, the owner knows these rigs inside and out.

Cheers
Kevin

How is the shipping to the states?  Any additional costs when ordering these custom auto parts with customs etc??

Well, I just picked up the sidekick this afternoon and ordered the Altered Ego lift as I was hauling the sidekick  home(actually when I stopped at a rest area about halfway home)

That makes two people with the AE lift.  I look forward to seeing how well they work.  :)

The 4.5" Altered Ego lift kit arrived yesterday, very nicely made parts, those Creeper Joints for the rear links are HUGE !

Now just to break out the cutting torch and remove the old parts! I am sure the bolts are severly corroded into the bushings centers, best to simply start with the torch and get it done quickly!!!!
