Race you! Samurai top speed? Engine good?
« on: June 25, 2011, 01:56:02 PM »
Here are my blazing specs:

0-60 - Yes
1/4 Mile - Eventually
Top speed - 80MPH with side view mirrors folded in.

Just kidding about racing but I was wondering if anyone here was smart enough to figure out the condition of my engine based on its performance specs? It is an 86 tin top with stock 1.3L engine. Best guess is that it has 186K miles on it and it appears to be the orginal engine. 0-60 time is a leisurely 20 seconds. Top speed is 80 MPH in 4th gear at 6000rpm if you give it some time to get there. (Checked with GPS) BTW, what is the redline on the 1.3? In 5th gear it tops out at 70mph. I have 32" tires and 6.5 gears in the transfer case. I'm guessing the winch, heavy duty bumpers, and large tires adds about 250-300 pounds to the vehicle. My iPad running Dynolicious said I had 40 peak wheel HP.

Ok, crunch the numbers and tell me if my engine is good or tired. Also curious what performance you guys are getting out of your 1.3 engines?

If you can hit 80 with 32" tires your doing pretty well.   :)

The Dynolicious software is probably off a bit on the numbers, since you have a divorced transfer case and a reduction in high range.  It will add drag to the drivetrain and throw off the numbers, but you would have to hook up to a true Dyno to find out how much.

There is a good thread on how fas it your Tracker/Sammy that will give you and idea of how fast some of our vehicles will go:
