Transfer Case Kick Sport 1.8L (HELP)
« on: May 22, 2011, 11:02:13 AM »
i was wondering why my transfer case and transmission was leaking and i finally found out that there is a hairline crack about 2" long right after the drain plug on the transfer case and i was wondering if it's a bad idea to just put a weld on it and call it good any suggestions?

Weld away, I would just use some silicone, but the crack might continue
to spread and that would result in a total failure of the case or just more
leaking, you will have to drain the case over night to get all the oil to drain
out, it would help to have the gear oil warm to drain out better, then clean
the weld location good with brake cleaner so it can be welded without problems

thanks i was also told  to try to dremmel it out a bit and clean it very well and try using jb-weld
and it should be fine so i think that's going to be my option for a temp fix till i find a new / used
t-case and order up some 4.24 gears.
