How much lift does my new samuria have?
« on: May 04, 2011, 07:15:01 PM »
My new samurai has a hole to hole distance of 6" on the rear shackles, and 5.75" hole to hole on the front. With the stock springs in place, how much lift is this? Thanks.

get a tape and measure from the center of the axle/wheel to the bottom of the fender cutout front and on the rear, the someone with a stock one can give you a measurement maybe.... (more info would be helpful)

If stock shackles are 2.75" and yours are 5.75" then they are 3" longer giving you a lift of 1.5" over stock.  Also if you looked down the page on the forum, someone just asked the stock shackle length. But the best thing to do is like mentioned above measure from the axle centerline to the fender lip.  As long as the fenders havent been cut.  ;D  Then compare to a stock samurai's measurement. This is the best way, just because a spring says it lifts your rig X amount doesnt mean it will.  Your springs can be old and sagging, if your rig has been lightened or has a bunch of junk in it, that could affect your lift...  I had an old Chevy that 4" lift springs lifted my truck almost 5.5 inches.
