body lift question
« on: May 01, 2011, 08:38:16 PM »
I just picked up a 91 sidekick with a 2 inch sky body lift in it. the problem is the transfer case stick hits the floor pan and wont go out of 4wd. and the transmission shifter is also way off is there any one that sells just the shifter extensions or will i have to fab up my own. this is my dads project so hes more inclined to buy them.

yes i had the same problem with my 91 tracker after Sky's 2"BL if you pull your shifters and weld in a piece of rod 2" long and it doesn't have to have a bend in it just a straight piece of 1/2"x2"rod and weld her in and everything will go back to normal like nothing was done

I did just has beagle suggested. The trick is to weld in the extension below the stock curve.  I used an old tire iron for the extension, it's just about the right size.

The other option is to pull heat and bend the shifters.

I installed a 2" lift on mine and had to grind a little metal off the back side of hole in the floor.
