Besttop Soft top non standard
« on: April 10, 2011, 08:49:06 PM »
I have a Bestop that is worn and needs replacing.  It is a bestop but... I have a 2 piece and all all see everwhere is a one peice.  One peice is over the cab the other over the rear seat.  The sport rail has 2 rails on it one for the for the forward top and one for the read to "hook" onto.  Has anyone seen this before.  It looks all factory to me.  Did bestop make a 2 piece in the past or what??  I though getting a new top would be easy but I guess not.

I have one for my older model Kick.  I believe it was called the SunPort top and I've heard that Bestop is no longer making them.  :(

You're right.  It is the sunport and they stopped making it.  I think I will go with the bikini, duster and jammer for the summer.

Just FYI
I recycled my OLD TOP and made it a "Safari" top.
This was a Godsend in Nevada for this displaced Yooper,
I cut out the rear and side widows and saved the 3 corner body snaps at the bottom.
Also, save the "Bead" strip by the "B" post.
Folded over the cut edges and re-sewn, (Hey! it's a machine,...it's MANLY to know how to use a sewing machine!)
It's not as hard as you think to make it, Also I patched 2 puncture holes in the top with the excess  material from by the bottom of the rear & side widows.

I will soon learn how to post pics on the internet for you guys, I am slowly moving into the New Millennium 1 decade at a time!
