Newbie exhaust question
« on: March 10, 2011, 08:57:48 AM »
I want to add a header and 2" exhaust to my 1987 stock Zuk. Do I need the catalytic converter? What is a good header and exhaust for the $$. I have a quote for an Incinerator Exhaust with all the custom pipe and hangers for $250-300 installed. I will do the header. Muffler guy says Incinerator is same as Flowmaster just wont rust.

Zuk will be used for occassional road driving and trail riding....no heavy mudding or going crazy, will also be used for hunting.

Thanks.

for the truck as a running sense, no you dont need a cat.

if you have to pass inspections or emission tests you will NEED a cat. no way these trucks will pass emissions tests with no cat.

No emissions testing required here. I can get a DT ceramic coated header for $254 + S&H, I can get the Hedman for $169.95, or the Calmini for $259.95.  The muffler is an Insynerator with welding, pipe and hangers $250. Been tols it is like a flowmaster but it is aluminum and wont rust with a lifetime warranty.  I have been reading all the posts and it is a toss up.  My concern is the O2 sensor and the location on the different headers.

i put the doug thorley  header and 2" exh. on my 87. the O2 bung is in the stock position on this header. got the kit thru lowrangeoffroad.com. Kit was drop-shipped from a company in medford, ore. (sorry, cant remember the name.) OR you can drill a hole in your header and weld a nut on to hold O2 sensor. hope this helps. bill
