got my new 88.5 sami yesterday...everything checked well however today after 27 miles |removethispart|@ Idle I'm hearing a scraping sound coming from the timing belt cover I think...this is a stock 1.3 and when you start it it revs to almost 2k rpm then as is warms it lowers to 800 to 900 rpm (approx. 10 mins)...then it starts a little skip and that scraping sound...the engine is dry of leaks does not smoke...shifts and drives well...I had one prior put weber on found broken keyway...any ideas...and will the stock engine idle smoothly or is that the nature of the Hitachi...just dont want to cause any damage if possible took all I had just to purchase...I plan on keeping this one and fixing it up as I go bumpers/tires /  lift/ you guys know the drill...thanks in advance for any help ???

found out it was alternator bearing...checked compression...190/190/190/176...don't know if wot matters but that is how I checked it...since it is an alternator bearing would you go ahead and do the 105 amp alt?...the prices I checked for new alts...were about the same price for the Suzuki...and GM...guess all I'd have to buy is the bracket and belt(needs replacing anyway)

If your plan is to do a whole list of mods, it's likely a good time to start doing your research on what bracket and alternator you're going to go with.  Seems like lots of conflicting reports on what set-up to go with though... good luck...   ;D

I'm a big fan of staying stock unless you need to extra power.  One less thing to try and figure out why it's not working right.  :D

Is the same Sami as your other post - these compression numbers are distinctly different?
