toyota conversion front shock mount help
« on: February 22, 2011, 06:32:38 PM »
I bought my 87 Sammy from a guy who did a pretty good job with the toyota conversion.  However my front lower shock mounts won't stop breaking.  He has them mounted on top of the axle with some spaces that allow them to be bolted on from the side.  It seems that there might be too much torque for them where they are mounted.

does anyone have any ideas or pics on how this is typically done?  Is mounting them below the axle with something like these better?

the pics you provided look better but for anything off-road I would only use a double shear mount system.I.E. tab on both sides of shock properly welded  with bolt through both.
