Resetting clutch pedal arm
« on: January 22, 2011, 03:31:08 PM »
I finally got a new clutch pedal arm after I stripped the last one.  I need help in resetting the arm.  I have both Haynes and Chilton's repair manuals and they do not have anything on it.  Once I set the pedal height, do I set the arm straight up or is it set forward or backward?
A couple of more questions.  There is a switch in front of the clutch pedal and it has been disconnected - what is this switch for?  The tab that the switch was bolted to was bent back, I guess I probably bent it when the arm was stripped.  The teeth on the pedal are stripped where the old arm was bolted to it.  Can I bolt the new arm back to the pedal or would it be best to get a new pedal, too?
Thanks for any info you can give me.

The switch is there as a safety feature.

It forces the driver to depress the clutch pedal - disengaging the engine from the transmission - during start-up.  It is wired in series with the starter solenoid circuit.

It's your choice if you want to replace the switch or leave it bypassed.

There are alignment dots on the arm and shaft.  Line them up, when you put the arm on, then adjust the pedal height.
