Setting the timeing on a 1.6l
« on: January 21, 2011, 03:30:05 PM »
I am changing the motor and have to use my orriginal distributor and I did not mark of check anything when I took it out...
so how do I set the timeing when I put the distributor on the motor. it is a 1997 1.6l 16v .. the motor I am putting in is out of a 1996 1.6 16v. I am useing all of my intake from the 97. Any other surprises I might run into???

Thanks,Rodney.

If you don't have a service manual, you may want to get one, or take a good look at ACKS FACS, and follow the procedures closley. It's pretty detailed and too long to go step by step here, and I couldn't recite it by memory anyway, but I did the same thing once when I first got my Tracker and it seemed like I'd never get it right, until I followed all the steps.
The usual stuff, and 2nd generation Air to liquid intercooled TURBOCHARGER
