What is this ?

These two boxes were underneath my dash by the glove box - I understand that the black one on the left is the ECM, but what is the silver box on the right and what does it do?

Thanks - I was not sure if I needed it or not. I have removed the AC compressor so I do not need this anymore...

It is not worth anything chucked out back.  Even if you make someone an exceptional deal, you haven't lost anything, and someone will be happy.

Some of the small parts are real "gems" when found for a good price.
