Electrical Issues???
« on: August 21, 2010, 05:28:19 AM »
Ok I have a 1990 samurai my issue is I have the large ground wire to the one of the starter mounting bolts and the little one to the body.... I have the positive wire to the solenoid. My issue is everything worked fine yesterday but I got a new starter today.... I could not get it running it would just keep clicking but yesterday it started just fine. So I put my little clicky starter fix on and it started right up but now my issue is soon as I turn my lights on the engine shuts off completely... Unhooked one headlight still ran but hooked both up it just died. What could be my issue?

Check your ground wires, take all the connections apart
and make sure there is no corrosion, wire brush them and
put them back tight.

The little ground wire off the battery is the body ground and
I would suspect that one is the problem.

These electrical systems work by grounding the circuit to turn
on the light, so there is a problem with grounding and it's
shorting out the ignition

Ya, sounds like the problem to me, there are several grounds, in front
and in back, so check for them, in the back on the Sidekick they were
inside the tail light opening in the body, not sure about a Samurai tho
