Thought I'd start a thread, introduce myself and have an open discussion for some of my thoughts, plans and issues with my Samurai.
I live in the great white canadian north, and i own a 86 Samurai, just bought it a few months ago (pics to follow)
I am having some concerns and thoughts and want everyones opinions. I've done lots of searching on here and read a few topics, not to mention downloaded the service manual.
ISSUE 1I'm having some issues with the idle, I beleive since im canadian that i have the aisan carb. When i start the truck, the idle is low, and i have to feather the gas for a bit until it warms up or else it will stall out, then when its warm it seems to idle high. And just recently im having an issue that as soon as i turn on the headlights or the heater, the Idle goes through the roof, assuming its up around 3500 or so!
I realize that there are 2 seperate adjustments for the cold idle, and then warm idle.. and a seperate "accesory plunger" that kicks in when the alternator is under load. Now what im looking for is a definitive answer on how to PROPERLY adjust the cold idle, the warm idle and fix my high idle issue when i turn on my lights.
ISSUE 2Lift kits. Ill keep this plain and simple. Im thinking CALMINI and its either going to be 3.5" or 5". We have a total of 15kms of paved road up here and a max speed limit of 50kms/hour so offroad capability is paramount to speed and driveability. Thoughts?
ISSUE 3Depending on what to do with my idle issues.. I was thinking of upgrading to a weber.. but also seriously considering a motor swap with EFI. Is there a company that makes a conversion harness because i hate WIRING.
What are the best engines to go with.. i was thinking along the lines of a 1.6 EFI from a tracker, or a V6 Vitara engine, is there any resources out there that offers a step by step along with a list of parts as im failrly novice, done a few swaps on honda cars, but never on the zuk.
