« on: July 21, 2010, 08:32:32 PM »
just looking to replace my entire steering system (no power steering at this time :( later tho)  just wanted to know how other owners like their OTT or OTS as their called.  the whole steering system above the axle...  or a few pointers.

thanks

I run half of the OTT steering, just the passenger side.  Works great and I have never had any bump steer.  :)

Hey Drone367, is that OTT on your 410, if so where and how doe's it connect. I've been told that because
I have drum brakes up front that any OTT system won't work. Sorry to hi-jack this thread.

I have a Rocky Road full OTT the I picked off a salvaged truck.  It eliminated bumpsteer on my 4.5 SPOA lift - which is why I installed it.  If you plan to drive your truck daily on the highway, it will be an awesome improvement - well worth the investment!  BTW:  Either a full or "Stage One"  OTT will do this.  The full OTT simply moves the tierod up over the axle for clearance purposes.

I am running Samurai axles on my SJ-410, but you should be able to swap your front drums out for the disk brakes on the 84 SJ-410.  I believe everything from the knuckles out are exchangeable between the 410 axles and the SJ-413/Samurai.  But that may have been due to my previous set being an 84 that came through Canada.

I run the mercedes arm, half high steer, very happy with it.

No bump steer and stock ackerman makes it drive great.
