Best Geo Tracker power upgrade (daily driver)
« on: July 17, 2010, 07:37:04 PM »
I just got a 94 geo tracker with a 1.6 8v 4x4, and althought it runs just fine, its very weak as im sure you are all aware.. what should i do to make it a little more powerful to kind of fit into the mix of more modern vehicles.. are there any decent mods you can do to the current 8v or should i look into an engine swap?.. and if i do an engine swap, i would like to use my stock manual tranny and transfer case... i really do no offroading, the only time it sees 4x4 is during the winter, so id liek to stick with my stock drivetrain.. so what does that leave me for my most affordable, easiest way to get some more power??.. you can feel free to e-mail me at daveconner1984|removethispart|@peoplepc.com if you have any suggestions.. i appreciate any help you can suggest..

If you are the McGiever type and can use a stick of chewing gum to build an airplane, or are a grad of MIT, then I agree with Wild.  His mod is the badest I've seen.
96 Tracker LSI, 2.5" Pro Comp lift with cooper 30X9.5 STT tires.  A bit of trim and beating to make the front work.

This is the link to the buildup, the whole process took about 3
years to get it to a level I was happy with, and all during this process
this was my daily driver, the second gear (auto trans) chirps always
got a raised brow from the unsuspecting tho knowledgeable motorist,
and the boost blow down sound was cool too, except people are looking
for the Ricer Honda, not a SideKick with 7" of lift on 33" Swampers
