This is not what you want to hear, but realistically, this IS what you're dealing with - it's a thirty year old vehicle that may or may not have been properly maintained - you check EVERYTHING - you hope for the best but prepare for the worst.
Suspension bushes are either rotted or worn or if you're lucky, replaced - but there's only one way to know - check them - king pin bearings, track rod ends, steering box - and the only reason I started with the suspension is, you're going to be checking everything from the ground up - and whilst you're underneath, look for rust...
