The GTI Crank has a shorter throw, not a lot tho, but you will have reduced
compression ratio, perfect for a turbo motor, but not a huge torquer it's all
HP and RPM so offroad ability could suffer if geared wrong

The GTi crank has a shorter throw than what?

As I indicated earlier, Suzuki offered two 1.3 motors in the Samurai - a 1298cc & a 1324cc - the principle difference between these motors is the stroke - the 1324cc has a longer stroke than the 1298cc.

If you're discussing a 1298cc Samurai engine, there is no difference in stroke between the crank and one from a GTi.  The cranks are dimensionally identical, the differences are in the construction - the crank from the 8v engine is cast, hollow and lighter, the crank from the 16v (GTi) is forged and has more counterweights.

I have one each of these cranks lying side by side on a bench in the shop, I'll get a picture over the weekend and post it.

Yes, that is what I was referring to.
I thought the Samurai got the 1324cc engine, and the
swift was equipped with the 1298cc engine???

I was going from memory of about 8 years ago when I was looking
into different crank and head combos for something that I can't
even remember now   ;)

wow this topic got thrown around a lot. well since i started this i was unable to ever find a swift crankshaft so i had a samurai shaft re milled cost almost 250 bucks :o, anyways as i was gathing all the parts to re assemble my 1.3 i came upon a 1.6 16v with adapter plate and wiring harness for a good deal out of colorado (i think i got engine, adapter, converted harness and mount for 700) anyways im running that engine now and have since sold all my 1.3 stuff. I dont get on here much anymore so its been a while since i posted this
