floor rot!!!!

i have a small area of floor rot on my 89 tracker lsi 8v 4x4 5 speed. and its located on the passengers side right below the dash. my question is what is the best way to fix it before it gets to bad ?? after i fix it im going to rino ligner it up inside and out. thanks in advance joe

common place, its right above the body mount support that welded to the floor, just cut out the rust and weld in a new piece.

also, look under your rear seat, at the seam where the hinge is, and where the seat connects at the fender well, chances are,  if you have rust in the pass foot well, you will have rust in those places as well.

I had an old ford with rotten floors, I cleaned them up and used rust treatment on them, covered the holes with tape then fiber glassed them using a couple layers of cloth. when it was dry I put some stainless rivets in it for good measure. Those floors were the best part of the whole truck. That was 20 years ago out here on the coast and they're still lookin good, the rest of the truck is rottin away though.  :(

ok thanks guys i think in going with the cutting and welding idea. the guy that had it before me also cutt a large hole in the back right above the fuel pump so i half to fix that also. what guage metal should i use?
