89' sidekick idle "hunting" problems

89' sidekick 1.6 8v EFI 4wl drive auto trans .
when I crank the engine it idles way up, maybe 2300rpms & starts "hunting" up & down, after it warms up it will idle dn but still hunts when it's in park or neutral . I had to replace the engine but used the same intake & it still does it. I've spayed ether around searching for vacuum or intake leaks but have not found any problems . Seems to run down the road great , its just when it's in park or neutral . Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Is your CEL on? On the TBI I wouldn't suspect vacuum leak... it usually causes constant race, rather than lope (hunting). I'd suspect IAC dirty or TPS out of calibration... or the ECU caps need to be replaced. Check out kick-fix.com:

he has pages for the 89/90 differences as well as idle control diagnostics.

Thanks , I'll check it all out , it's my first suzuki & I'm not real familiar with 'em , but I like it.
No, the CEL is not on (had to go to the sensor page to find out what the CEL was , great info )
