And it wasn't becuase they used T-100, but wanted the 2nd gen truck to be the T-150.  and this was all started when Toyota threatened Ford with a lawsuit when the new Lincoln LS cars came out.  Ford wanted co all the LS's the LS300 (V6) and LS400 (V8).  Toyota said they couldn't use it becuase it sounds too much like they're Lexus cars.

So when Toyota wanted to use the T-150 name Ford decided to stick it back at them and threatened their own useless lawsuit.
