Converting 2wd to 4wd
« on: December 17, 2009, 07:08:04 AM »
What is the difficulty level of converting a gen 2 grand vitara from 2wd to 4wd.  Is it like the gen 1 trackers where you just have to buy the parts and install them or is there mounting fabrication involved?  I am asking cause I am looking for a 4x4 grand vit. for my wife and all I can find in this area are 2wd.

Keep looking for a 4x4, it's not worth the work to change it.

It doesn't make sense unless you fall into a deal on axles, tranny, transfer case and all of the odds -n- ends necessary. But..... if you were to buy Toy axles and all the goodies then your talkin.  ;D

Otherwise look for something that meets your (her) needs.

Ha-Ha...

After I said all of that I was looking at Craig's list for some project parts. Low and behold I find 2 suitable Geo parts vehicles (entire trucks). Each of them for less than 800.00 so deals are out there if you choose to make the swap.
