J20 pulley bearings
« on: January 11, 2021, 02:01:12 PM »
Hey everyone. After looking for about 15 min around here I haven't been able to find any info on the idler pulley and tensioner pulley bearings for a 2001 Vitara 2.0L (J20 I believe).

I think the idler to be a 6005-2RS but if anyone knows 100% speak up please. It'll be nice to just pick them up on the way home and not make a 2nd trip.

Thanks in advance for any info!

I can confirm 6005-2RS for the idler pulley, my notes suggest I've replaced the tensioner bearing, but I don't see what I replaced it with and I can't get the tensioner I have here apart to see the number.

I used the 6203-2RS and 6005-2RS. Fordem gave the idler, so the other must be the tensioner. Granted my swap was for a J18. I haven't eeded to swap them, after doing the J23 swap.

I bought new pulleys with bearings and kept the used pulleys. I took the used ones and installed new bearings to keep on the parts shelf. That allows me to have a spare set with new bearings ready for install. We were doing a lot of coastal runs with salt water. I was going through bearnings  every year or so.
