Rear Tire Carrier
« on: November 30, 2009, 11:06:01 AM »
I'm wondering if anybody on here has a custom rear tire carrier on their tracker?  From what I can tell, there are 0 aftermarket applications for this.  I'm noticing that the swing out rear door on my 03 is hurting, as it needs to be "lifted up" to close after it is opened.  I currently have a 235 spare mounted on it.  I'd love to get a body or frame mounted rear spare carrier.

Hello, I have not posted any pics yet as I haven't had any time to work on it....but, I bought a smitty built rear swing away carrier bumper. It's built for a jeep but I'm going to be mounting it to my 99 tracker. i'll send progress pictures when I have a minute.

I had the same problem with mine and it has a stock size spare the problem ended up being a sticking door latch and a sticking door lock both solved with WD-40.  take off the plastic from the bottom of the inside of the door to gain access.

I removed my steel rim spare tire long ago (used it as a winter rim instead) and replaced it with a light aluminum factory rim thus decreasing the weight on the door.....also my wife can actually lift the tire if she has to change a flat (or call CAA :P)........unless your going with some crazy mudders i dont see a reason to have a swing out aftermarket type tire carrier
