i am probably asking a question that is frequently answered but here it goes, with a calmini 6'' combo lift and the calmini anvil front housing is that the same thing as the hagen frontend mod [ widening and rotating]? i am not a fabricator ''at all'' but i just sold all my jet skis and have the money to buy these parts just wondering if i should save that money for the fab shop or if i should just go ahead with the kit because it takes care of the mods itself.

any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

ps does anyone have a ballpark as too how much those mods would cost at a shop, and would they even do it or just look at me funny and laugh? thank you

I can't tell you about the calmini A arms or the anvil, but I have done the widening mod. The widening mod bring the angle of travel off a bit making it take the bumps differantly. Your spring purches will be off center causing your springs to wear out faster (they will be softer). Don't get me wrong, I really like my hagen widening mod. Its softer on the trails, corrected tire angle with the lift and gave a more stable stance. The reason I went that route over calmini was I'm planning on doing a SAS eventually so it would have been money wasted. The most important thing when you are widening the front IFS is proper CV axle spacing, if you don't have it you'll be breaking axles all the time.

so since i have no plans of putting a staight axle underneath it would the calmini be the best option?
i mean since im not a fabber.

It would be much more strait forward and dependable. If I had the money and didn't want to go strait axle I would go with the Calmini setup, but I've never ran it so can't say how you would like it. I've heard they're stiff at first.

The anvil is a replacement steel axle housing, it also lets you run two (US) drivers side driveshafts. Its also worth looking at using the steel housing from a GV and making up an adapter. The Anvil doesn't include a steel diff housing/third member

They're not completely the same, the anvil will allow the use of two drivers side cv's(as does the widening). The widening will widen, move the wheel forward, and at the same time adding caster. When you lift a trackick you lose a bit of caster, doing the widening gives more than stock.
A fab shop could install the anvil & lift no problem, but the widening they may look at you funny.

Ditch the anvil kit. If you want to wheel and not want to carry as many tools run the stock Toyota cv's that you can get at any parts store this is the weak link which makes sense. If you do snap one. The kit to convert to this is all bolt in that will require a wheel alignment. The guys name is stan not sure what his post name is but someone might.
