Where to lift with a hi-lift?

I bought a hi-lift jack today and went to jack up the front and couldn't find anywhere to lift it.  Where do you attach the jack to the truck to lift it?

Well, if you have any added armor like bumpers or rock rails, that would be where you lift at. If you don't have anything like that, a hitch works also. If that wont work, buy a lift mate to go with it. I think that's the name of the sling that hooks to the rims allowing you to lift the wheel...

Yup, it's called the Lift-Mate. I got mine from Northern Tool (www.northerntool.com). It's basically a sling with two padded steel hooks. The sling attaches to the moving part of the jack, the hooks grab onto holes in your wheel, and you jack the vehicle up by the wheel. It works fine for getting unstuck; not so good for changing a tire.  ;)

Help! Same question! I've got stock bumpers and don't want to change them for several reasons. If there's no way to use a Hi Lift, what other jacks do people use for off road? If there IS a way, how? ???

if you dont like how it looks after you can just go under the plastic bumper covers (leaves some rash and can make it look a big ugly) but it works.
ive used my stock gas tank bar before, but it bent under the weight of the truck with the width of the jack head. with a hitch it works great.

use a giant shim (wood block, or something) with stock jack, or use a strap in conjunction with your hi-lift. I've used tie down straps before.
