Front End Quiver - 4 door
« on: August 24, 2004, 03:35:27 AM »
I just bought a 97 4 door.  It was completly looked over by my Mechanic (for inspection purposes) and by the local Suzuki dealer (when negotiating price with the previous owner)

Both inspections recommeded that the ball joints be replaced and they were.

I bought 4 new BFG Land Terrain and had them balanced on 92 Kick alloy rims.

There is this strange "vibration" in the front end.  Almost like driving over an endless series of tiny speed bumps.

I have not experienced this in my wifes 2 door . . . is it a 4 door thing?

Thought?  Questions?

Check your tire presure Id bet there is way to much air in them.  Knock it down to 28lbs or so and see if it goes away.

Ahemm .......... 28 ???  Try 23 PSI
(2 door recommended pressure)

also check the hubs, if the front driveshaft
is put back in after service in the wrong position,
it will viberate, but it's a fast vibration, makes
my rear view mirror "buzz"

Well lets see, the bolt holes are not square,
but more of a rectangle, so I guess you would
say the driveshaft would be upside down, in the
wrong position, but no you can't put it in front
to back.

I marked mine with a punch on the flange so
I won't have that problem again

The tires did have 35lbs in them and I dropped it to 30.  I will drop it to 25 and check it out.

There is no "buzzing" so it is probably the tires.

I will update.

I guess I never looked at the recomended pressure.  28 is what I set mine to because it gives me the best tire wear with the winch and tube bumper.   My bad.....

Hey, it's not a bad, they are your tires
and you can run them at whatever you
want to. I'm just stating the stock 205
knifey tires called for 23, 235 and bigger
sizes can run less than that, I run 15 in
the 30" tires and 10-12 in the 33s
;)
