hey guys im looking for a little wisdom from some more experiensed samurai meckanics. I am going all yota from the engine to the axles and im not gona lie, i have no idea what i am doing because i have never done anything like this befor so if anyone can tell what engine (22re/22r) and what year is the best. Also what leafs do i need and all that. so if anyone can help me out with this it would be awsom and thank you.

You might have to pull the front fenders and the hood forward about five inches or so like one of the guys here did, and maybe some six pack yj springs up front, that is a heavy combo and kind of hard on the front springs. I like a 22r with a 20r head and a turbo from turbo city in the old days, they put out about 380 h.p. and 700 with juice all day long.

It sounds a little crazy to me to not even be firmilliar enough with yota engines to know what ones are "good years" and what aren't... but you've already chosen it as the engine you want to swap  ??? It may be good for you to spend some time on a yota forum, and get a good understanding of them.

79-80 engines are 20r's, 81-84 are 22r's, and the better engines are 85-95 22r/22re's. If going with the injection 22re the later model the better. The trans/transfers behind the injected models are also better (stronger). Good luck!!
