Question for those with a body lift
« on: February 10, 2009, 12:39:46 AM »
I have a quick question for you and it's a technical one you may or may not be able to answer. I've installed the lift and forgot the disconnect the steering shaft when I lifted the body off the frame. I have since disconnected the shaft but I need to know if the shaft is bent or if this is how it's supposed to be. It's bent slightly down, by a 1/4 inch or so, and I can tell this because when I turn the steering wheel right or left, the shaft spins but the end of the shaft doesn't spin in place but moves slightly right or left as it spins. Should it just spin in place?

to bad you didn't ask this on sat, i just installed my 3", anyhow, i would say yes it is bent, but i would think there may be enough "give" in the rubber bushing between the 2 u-joints that you may not notice the bind it will cause, OR you wont be able to slide the spline connector back on again

but in the end, YES bent for sure

Lance, Can you do me a favor and open your hood and roll down your drivers window. With one hand turn your steering wheel and see if yours moves to the righ or left as you turn your steering wheel? You should still be able to see the movement even with the spline connector back. Thanks!!
