Rear Axle Bearing
« on: June 02, 2010, 04:53:02 PM »
One of my rear bearing have started to go.
Was thinking of being lazy and pulling a whole axle from the wreckers.  Just want to make sure what axle I can use for a '99 Tracker.
All Sidekick/Trackers are to short right?
XL-7 have the a different spline count and are to thick.
So Tracker/Vitara/GV from '99 and up...Right.

I need a few other parts from the wreckers, so this seems a easier fix then putting on new bearings (assuming that I can find one with good bearings  ;D)

That's too much work for a relatively easy bearing replacement need.  ;)

See...

And what if the junker rear is toast?  :o

Great info in that link - thanks for posting that.  I think I may be doing this project later in the summer.  Any idea how the front compares?  I think I have one front and one rear that need replacing.

Front bearing info...

Also, with regard to swapping out the entire rear from a donor...I see that you are 4WD, so differential gear ratios have to match whatever you have up front too.   ;)

Thanks for the links.
I don't know how many inner seals I've replaced, but seeing the video made me take a REALY close look at the down loaded manual I have.
Wouldn't you know it, I'VE BEEN PUTTING THE SEALS BACKWARD!!!!! :P :P :P
Thanks again..
