Changing cam timing?

Hi Guys
I just did a search and found a post from 06 by a guy called zaggy,in this post he talks about moving the timing belt one notch.But he sold the kick before he actully got this modifacation,anybody out there done this and have a write up?
I have heard of doing this to help low end power[and guys thats we need offroad].I am very interested in hearing more on this!

If I remember correctly he did try this mod on his aero engine and it did work. That was with a carb conversion though, if you change the shape of the torque curve on an EFI engine the ECU will not be correctly mapped. You will also have to remember to reset the ignition timing. You could PM Zaggy and ask him about this, also tell him to get on here and let us know what how he's doing.

Who mades the adjustable cam pulley for the 1.6 8v. You can degree your cam for max horses. Heres a web site that explains how. www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/cam_degreeing/.

We did this on our 1.6 8-valve powered Suzuki Swift circle track racer. It does move the power curve down in on the rpm scale.

Hi Guys,thanx for the replies
I am fixing a bad crank keyway and broken timing belt tensioner bolt on my 1.3 sami engine,so I was researching the correct timing belt insallation instructions and saw the thread about retarding the cam timing by 1 notch on the timing belt ,and was wondering if there was more info on this.
I guess I will try it and post up what I find out.
