http://desertrun.org/desert_run.htmlThis is always a fun event. All the entry fees go to the Search & Rescue in this area. It's very well organized, and the Zuki's are always underrepresented. Tons of jeeps, dirt bikes, quads, and a lot of great door prizes are donated every year.
After seeing the feature on Johnson Valley and the Hammers (1/2 hour from my house). I figured I'd throw this out for everyone's fyi. The marked course doesn't run the Hammers, but I have some friends w/ some sick rockcrawlers who often get bored on the course, and head in that direction. I'll be hanging out close to the base camp early Sat morning in the black 99 ZR2 (unless this post draws a crowd, it will likely be the only Tracker/Vitara/Sidekick (of 500 or so vehicles (to be fair, there are always a few Sami's)) if anyone wants to run a pack of Zuks.
